WDG in motion is pleased to announce that there are 21 elementary schools (out of 98) participating in the Active Schools in motion recognition program.
You’ve got to love a program that makes developing and sustaining a “culture of physical activity” in your school and community EASY!
Active Schools in motion is such a program and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph (WDG) in motion is a proud supporter of this flexible, fun and free recognition program for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. This program assists in the adoption, development and maintenance of physical activity, which supports building the capacity of children and youth to lead healthy, active, improved academic lives.
Managed by PARC (Ontario’s Physical Activity Resource Centre), Active Schools is directly linked to the Active Participation strand of the Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum. It’s a fun, easy-to-use, six-level program that comes with a wealth of support materials; from posters to prizes, to marketing materials as well as easy, engaging ideas that have been developed by teachers in other Active Schools.
In addition, PARC in conjunction with TVO awards 3 monthly prizes, announced on TVO’s kids show Crawl Space, and even has an award called the “Crawl Cup” which displays the winning school’s name engraved on the cup, which is displayed in the winning school for a month!
WDG in motion is committed to supporting healthy lifestyles through physical activity and is excited about the positive impact the Active Schools in motion recognition program will have on your school community.
